Candid Conversations: Join us to discuss Rest is Resistance A Manifesto

Sunday March 10th 3-5pm

Do you seek to rest and resist the grind?

Rest Is Resistance is a call to action, a battle cry, a field guide, and a manifesto for all of us who are sleep deprived, searching for justice, and longing to be liberated from the oppressive grip of Grind Culture.

Disrupt and push back against capitalism and white supremacy.

In this book, Tricia Hersey, aka The Nap Bishop, encourages us to connect to the liberating power of rest, daydreaming, and naps as a foundation for healing and justice.

“Aging well is for us……” Ayla Gavins, 4CYW Teacher

Teachers Ayla and Rosie with host Crystal

The longest-running program on public television focusing on the interests of people of color featured 4 Corners Yoga Wellness on January 19, 2024. WGBH Basic Black co-host, Crystal Haynes, Emmy award-winning journalist and lecturer at Northeastern University, practiced with 4CYW teachers and students at the Great Hall, Codman Square Health Center on Saturday January 13, 2024.

It is not lost on us that we practiced together on the holiday weekend of Martin Luther King.  We have a dream to manifest health and wellness in our community with pop-up yoga and wellness events, in addition to our virtual healing space. We believe that 2024 is our year to grow and expand.

Textile & Text: The Sacred Ally Quilt Ministry at the Congregational Library & Archives

“History Matters. A conversation with sacred allies. When faced with criticism for publicizing her voice, puritan poet Anne Bradstreet once lamented, “[they] say my hand a needle better fits.” Whether employing the pen, the needle, or the lectern, generations of Black and white Congregational women and men have developed rich ways of challenging the status quo.”

Tickets for the exhibition are free, but registration is required via Eventbrite.

YOGA + SOCIAL JUSTICE: TILL MOVIE
SCREENING & REFLECTION IN TWO PARTS

“Until the killing of black men, black mothers’ sons, become as important to the rest of the country as the killing of white mothers’ sons, we who believe in freedom cannot rest until this happens.” — Ella Baker.

At the point of purchase you have the following payment options:

In the United States, systemic racism is hurting all of us, but it's killing Black and Brown Americans at alarming rates, with impunity.  If this scares, elicits anger, makes you feel guilty, uncomfortable, curious or you are in disbelief, join 4 Corners Yoga + Wellness faculty to watch the movie TILL. We will participate in a diverse community discussion on our deeply rooted untold American history.

No one wants to believe they benefit from systems that hurt other people.  It's much easier to pretend you don’t know.

For people who don’t know, or for people who do and care deeply about racial inequities and social injustices, the movie, Till, is a must see. It is an American tragedy of Mamie Till, an African American mother, her family, her only child, the young beautiful Emmett Till. It is also an American story about each of us and a country which allows the manifestation of hate and racism to divide the soul of American life today.

Session One: is to raise social consciousness about systemic racism. We open with a mindfulness meditation. We watch the first hour of the movie TILL (2.12.) and participate in a facilitated community discussion to generate reflection questions for session two.

4 Corners Yoga + Wellness holds a brave space to discuss important issues which impact all bodies.
