Who Gets to Decide?

An Unveiling the Shroud workshop with death doulas Liz Neumann and Lisa Leung-Tat

November 1st· 1pm-3pm · The Meeting Point Jamaica Plain · [Cost / free]

When someone we love is seriously ill or nearing the end of life, who has the right to speak for them? Who is allowed in the hospital room? Who makes the decisions about their care, their body, and their final wishes?

For many of us, the people who show up are not the people the law recognizes. Chosen family, partners, close friends, and community members are too often left out at the moments that matter most.

In this two-hour workshop, we’ll pull back the veil on how death and decision-making work in our society, and on who gets left in the shadows. Together we’ll explore:

How to name the people you trust to advocate for your health care

The legal tools that protect your wishes and your chosen family

How to start these conversations with the people you love

This is a warm, honest space. No experience or expertise needed, only curiosity and an open heart.
